Technogym, a leading company in the fitness industry, has made design, innovation and quality its prerogatives.
Its story began in 1983 when businessman Nerio Alessandri set up the company in a small town in the Italian province of Forli’-Cesena. Since then, it’s successes and recognition have come thick and fast so that it now enjoys a near-monopoly of the health and fitness industry. The most fascinating of all of Technogym’s product lines is without doubt the Personal Line.
The result of collaboration with the well-known architect and designer Antonio Citterio, the Personal Line arose from the intention to create equipment not only of the highest quality and efficiency but also of a design ensuring that it could easily be introduced into the house rather like real pieces of furniture.
Technogym’s Personal Line consists of five pieces of equipment, each of which originates in a highly successful design study. They include a multi-use bench, an elliptical cross-trainer, a treadmills, an horizontal bicycle (with saddle and backrest the result of collaboration between Vitra and Citterio) and finally Kinesis: an object of great innovation and technology which enables a myriad of exercises to be performed in less than a square metre to improve tone, suppleness and balance. All seemingly part of a sculpture.
Owing to Technogym the health and fitness industry, too, has found its special niche, thereby satisfying body, mind and obviously sight.
